A picturesque fishing village located just 15 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta. Its location is privileged as it represents the convergence point between the colorful Sierra Madre mountains and the calm waters of the Mexican Pacific.
Its beach, just about 350 meters long, has a variety of rustic restaurants with all the services to spend a pleasant day under the sun with specialties based on fresh seafood and other typical dishes.
Mismaloya offers its visitors a lush natural environment with calm emerald green waters, soft-moderate waves, and granulated sand of golden tones. On one side, the mouth of the stream and behind, the greenery of the tropical jungle.
The beach is ideal for water activities. You will find various options such as diving, snorkeling, kayaking, paddle board, bodyboard, and, in season, Stand Up Paddle (SUP).
Mismaloya has been, for decades, home to Vallarta families dedicated mainly to fishing and tourism. The history of the place is undoubtedly linked to the filming of the movie “The Night of the Iguana” by American director John Huston.
In commemoration of this event, on the small boardwalk facing the sea, stands a mast topped by the figure of a friendly iguana which is a pride of the inhabitants.
In the area of Mismaloya, there is also a tequila distillery and the Puerto Vallarta Zoo.
